I already said "I would not have recommended even the tests you already have had, and do not recommend any further testing at this time." Did you think I might have changed my mind already? But of course it's fine with me if you decide to be tested as many times as you like.
Doctor, Thank you for your response. Would you advise that I be tested still for Syphilis as I have read this can take up to 12 weeks to show. What symptoms would usually be a sign of syphilis.. I will certainly keep a keen eye on things over the next four weeks and hope no symptoms occur. If I do not receive any sores or warts in the next four weeks can I assume that herpes transmission did not take place. Sorry for taking up more of your time. This will be my last post. Many thanks again.
I would like to help, but there are no answers to your questions in the detail you request. That is, there are no data on the numerical odds of transmission for STDs other than HIV. The best I can say is that since there was no insertive anal sex, the risks are low. Statistically, the highest risks, all of which come from receiving oral sex, are for gonorrhea, genital herpes, syphilis, or nongonooccal urethritis (sometimes caused by normal oral bacteria). And by "highest" I don't mean the risk was high; it was quite low for all these problems. From the exposures you mention, there is no risk of hepatitis of any kind; hep C isn't sexually transmitted at all, except sometimes in gay men by anal sex due to blood exposure. Your description does not suggest your partner's rash was herpes, both by the description itself and the location. I won't even guess at other causes.
All in all, I would not have recommended even the tests you already have had, and do not recommend any further testing at this time. If you develop a discharge or sores of the penis in the next 3-4 weeks, or other symptoms that concern you, see a provider for further examination in testing. With the negative tests you already have had plus no symptoms in the next couple of weeks, you can be confident you weren't infected.
Best wishes-- HHH, MD
