is this an std?

I had sex almost 2 months ago. I used a condom but it broke at one point and I had to use another one. The next day or so I noticed what looked to be somewhat of a scratch or irritation on the side of the penis shaft. This is really weird but later it looked like a bump appeared. Basically looked like in my opinion a follicle or something like that but it seemed a little bigger than the natural ones and seemed bigger and just looked more like natural skin and and not really red. It didnt seem to hurt or anything. Anyway so it has been there ever since. Lately I tried pushing on it or tried to squeeze it .It seemes to get irritated and hurts somewhat. It doesnt look like what I think is herpes but something strange is going on. I am afraid to really try and squeeze it hard.  It is bigger now and looks likes like a big red pimple. I dont think its herpes. I got tested for herpes prior to this sexual encounter and it was negative. I know that doesnt do anything for this situation. I had sex with another person 4 weeks ago if and the condom came off a few times.....i have bad luck with condoms.  What do you think it could be? I know I will probably have to go to the doctor

for most part it seems to have gone away. There is somewhat of a red spot or scar there...where it was but for most part I am guessing its is gone and harmless....Thanks.

Personal business has unexpectedly take Dr. Hook away from the STD and HIV forums for a couple of days.  I agree with your doctor; this issue probably wasn't an STD of any kind, and that's all that this forum deals with.  Continue to follow up with your doctor as needed.

Well I went to a General doc today. It was going to take a week or so to get to a dermatologist. He didnt say much except that it would probably go away. He gave me a prescription for a antiboidic for staph or something as a precaution.....didnt think i need it. Also took a syphillis test just in case......said it didnt sound like syphillis but did it just for caution. As for the issue well since it drained it is down somewhat. It still is red and there. Still hurts when pressure is applied. So hopefully it goes away.

I just noticed that it was starting to drain. Basically it was a bunch of puss like a regular pimple. So i carefully drained it. Now it just looks like a red pimple again but smaller and no white center. Weird. I applied antibacterial soap to it for now.

I want to say its getting to the size of a pea or....its weird I have never seen anything like it. Hopefully I can get to a doctor today.

Thanks for the advice. I think I agree and and am somewhat am hopeful that is not something non std related and can be taken care of. I dont know when it exactly started. Like I previously stated there looked to be a scratch or small rash at the location the the next or so after sex. I dont if I got the scratch from the rough sex or from the condom breaking and rubbing on the side of the penis. I dont think there was a hair follicle there since its at the mid part of the penis shaft and not any hair there, but i might be wrong. I do notice fordyce spots on the penis and I think that is what it looked like more. I cant remember if there was a fordyce spot or follicle there at the time of this cut or scratch. I am assuming there had to be if it looked like one later. In any case I dont know how many days later after the scratch but I want to say it was soon after when a bump formed or reappeared that looked like a follicle,  fordyce spot or something of that sort. It seemed to standout and seemed to be bigger than the natural ones. It also seemed to be natural skin colored and not irritated at all. Maybe somewhat of a pearl or white colored but not sure....its hard to remember. The color didnt seem too out of the ordinary but it definitely was bigger. So I didnt really touch it or anything because I was afraid of what it was. Since it has been there for a while now where it was through me touching it or it on its own its become bigger and more of an irritated red color. I wish I could send a pic. When I touch or try to squeeze it it doesnt pop or anything and it is somewhat sore when I squeeze it, otherwise it doesnt seem to hurt when it isnt touched. That is where I am at to this point. I know its best to go see a doctor. I just wanted to see what your thoughts were. Thanks again.

Correct, you do need to go see a doctor.  I expect that he/she will then diagnose either folliculitis or a non-STD cyst of some sort.  What it is not is an STD.  For starters, you descripion is not reminiscent of an STD.  Secondly, when STDs occur they take several days, not just a day or two, after the exposure to appear.

My suggestion would be to be seen by a dermatologist if possible.  In the meantime, please continue to try not to squeeze or manipulate it. It has been there for 2 months so it can wait a bit longer.  In addition, squeezing, etc may make it more difficult for the docotr  who examines you to make a diagnosis.

Please let us know what it turns out to be.  EWH
