Should I be worried? - I am

I recently had sex with a woman who's STD status is unknown to me.  I had unprotected oral sex performed on me and then engaged in protected (condom) vaginal intercourse.  This was 10 days ago.  Yesterday I noticed what looked like a large pimple, only 1, on my belt line.  It does not hurt, itch, burn or anything else.  I popped it and it looks just like a popped pimple.  There was only 1, no clusters or anything like that.

I also noticed a small dry spot on the head of my penis, about 1/2 the size of a pea in diameter.  There is also a small red spot that looks like a cut or tear that is healing over just below the head of my penis.  I am on accutane 80mg at the moment, so I am attributing the dryness and possibly the red spot to that, but I am still terrified that I might have caught something.

Is it possible that I have HSV or any other type of STD?  I have zero pain or itching.  Urination is normal and painless.

Thank you for any help.  If I think of anything else that might help, or if there is any more information needed please let me know.

Thank you again.

The problem with waiting is that the penile abnormalities might clear up within 10 days, regardless of the cause.  Ideally you should move it up while you are sure there is something for the dermatologist to see.

Well that is some relief.  Thank you.  I have an appointment with my dermatologist in 10 days (every month b/c of the accutane).  Do you think it would be reasonable to wait that long?

Certainly the pimple near your waist is not due to any STD.  It's harder to be certain about the penile dry spot and the apparent break in the skin.  Herpes can be acquired by oral sex (due to HSV-1), can present atypically, and herpes is the most common cause overall of breaks in the skin of the genitals.  However, your description is quite atypical for herpes, and your idea of an accutane effect makes sense to me.  But I'm not a dermatologist and of course cannot make specific diagnosis.  The safest thing is to see a health care provider (perhaps a dermatologist) to provide a diagnosis and advice.  Or you could post your question on the Dermatology forum and see what Dr. Rockoff has to say.

Good luck-- HHH, MD
