Small white blister under tongue

Hello Doctor,
2 days back I noticed a tingling sensation under my tongue when I felt it on rolling my tongue over the area. Precisely I believe near the openings of the ducts of the submandibular and sublingual salivary glands. A little towards the right.
Then today it turned into a white patch/blister with some redness around it.

I am concerned that it is herpes. About 2 weeks I had a sexual encounter. Primarily kissing lips with may be some saliva and the female kissing my genitals and my penis with protection. I did not have my tongue touch her vagina or anything. I visited my doctor who suspected it to be stress ulcer or a canker sore. He did take a sample for HSV culture as I was concerned since he thought it was more accurate than a blood test.

Your inputs on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Arun

The sex was very low risk with respect to herpes.  Kissing is more risky for herpes of the mouth (due to HSV-1) than oral-genital sex is -- but still low risk unless your partner was having an obvious oral herpes outbreak.

Thanks Doctor. I will wait for the culture result. My doctore did mention that if the blister recurrs he would need to do the culture and thats how I knew o fth eoptiona nd went for it.
Based on your response I assume the kind of sexual activity I was involved in was not a high risk activity. Please do let me know if its otherwise.
I will post back on the forum once I have the results.
Thanks for your input.

Welcome to the forum.

Herpes is very unlikely.  The symptoms of an an initial oral herpes infection usually are severe sore throat and multiple, very painful sores in the mouth.

If your doctor suspected herpes based on the appearance of the lesion, i.e. if it was his idea to test the lesion for HSV, that has to be taken seriously.  But if he believes it to be a canker sore, that's almost certainly what it was -- especially if the test for herpes wasn't his idea, but in response to your concern about it.  Your doctor is correct that when there is aa fresh sore might be herpes is present, testing the lesion for the virus is preferable to a blood test.

Most likely the HSV test will be negative.  If in fact it is positive, please post a comment to let us know.  In the meantime, I wouldn't worry about it.
