Shooting pains in penis

I am a healthy, physically active, 23 yr. old male. For the last several days, I have been experiencing a discomforting shooting pain concentrated primarily in the glans of my penis, which seems to recur every 2-25 minutes or so.

I have had no pain with urination, and my sexual functioning seems normal. This has not been bothersome enough to keep me up at night, however I fear that this symptom may only be the initial stage of something worse. The only other related discomfort I have had is a slight cramp in my lower abdominal area, similar to constipation, although my stools have been loose and diarhheal for the last 48 hours.

My sexual activity has been monogamous for over a year, so I am not suspicious of STD, although not ruling out the possibility. Additionally, I have shown no signs or symptoms relating to appendicitis, and the pain has not been severe enough to warrant worries about kidney stones.

Thanks for your time,

tsd

No STD causes the symptom you describe, especially in the absence of other symptoms of STD, such as urethral discharge or penile sores.  Other than to assure you it isn't an STD, I cannot speculate about possible causes.  My expertise, and this forum, are strictly limited to STD issues.  The standard advice applies:  see a health care provider if your symptoms persist.

Don't expect any sort of defintive answer.  The symptom is very nonspecific.  You can andicipate his advice to see a health care provider if the symptom persists, but not much more.
