Unprotected Oral

Good Evening

I know this question has been asked over, and over again, but i wanted to hear your thoughts.

32 yo caucasian Married man, tested full std panel in january negative for everything.

3 weeks ago received oral sex from a guy, (only one occurance) and immediately started feeling irritation in my testicles and shortly thereafter at the tip of my penis.  My main concern is gonnnorreah??? I understand that it is impossible to diagnose over the internet, but I am trying to underand my need for testing after 3 weeks of no discharge.  I do understand that maybe 10% of males do not have discharge at all though so that is where i am confused.

no discharge but tip of penis is slightly red and sore to touch, which is where i think the problem is.

I am sure i've been checking daily for discharge but there has not been yet. But i feel that touching daily may have led to tip of penis being slightly sore.

1. From the forum what I can tell, the only bacterial disease I should be worried about is Gonnorreah from receiving oral sex. And from what I understand contracting gonnorreah from oral sex is an inefficient way to receive an infection.  And further I have only had one instance of infection which most infections do not transmit?

2. Any other concerns  I should have at 3 weeks out?

Most of these questions have been answered above.  I will expand or comment only on those that are unclear

1.  Probably although the infection can rarely persist for long periods of time.  There are only a few studies.
2.  See above
3.  No
4.  Both types are equally sensitive.  If you are tested with a urine test, it is best to have not urinated for at least an hour before you give your urine specimen.
5.  Very, very low

OK, I forgot to tell you he said he had'nt been with anyone since November, and also  said he was clean.

1My understanding is that even if he did have oral Gonorrhea, it should have cured itself over a period of 5 months?

2And to make sure I understand, Risk should be limited to Gonorrhea or NGU, Should I be tested for Chlamydia also ?
3Any other tests you would reccommend?
4Which form of testing is the most accurate or is there a difference in accuracy between urine test or cue tip type test.

5And finally as far as odds, since it is an inefficent way to transmit, it is a one time occurance, with limited symptoms (red tip of urethra opening), chances are that I am negative? I am not looking for a diagnosis, just information until I get my results back.

Off to get a test this afternoon

You are correct, oral sex is an inefficient way to transmit STDs.  There are two STDs that follow receipt of oral sex, gonorrhea and non-gonococcal urethritis and neither is particularly common.  The symptoms each are similar - discharge and or pain on urination.  Just discomfort at the tip of the penis is not a sign of either of these but can be a sign of trauma from repeated self-examination.

You are also correct however that about 10% of gonorrhea in men is asymptomatic with no signs or symptoms at all.

So, what should you do.  Rather than worry, go to your local STD clinic., The can quickly and confidentially test for both a little or no cost.  This will put an end to your worrying.  (there really are no other STDs to worry about).  Alternatively, you could wait it out but to do this, you need to keep you hands off of your penis and let it heal.

Hope this helps.  EWH
