Red Spots in genital area

Hi Doc,

I recently noticed some red spots in my genital area. They do not appear on my penis or scrotum. They are located between my belly button and where my penis starts. (closer to my pubic hairs on top of the penis).

They look red and they do not itch or give me any discomfort.

To be honest they look like ingrown pimples but at the same  time i am worried. I have seen them today. I have been sexually active but i always stay safe. I always put on a condom and sometimes i also put a condom for oral sex.

Your knowledge and help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Doc,

Thanks for the response. One more question if i may.

What is the risk of getting a std infections if you receive oral sex from a women but with a condom on?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks,

Adam

The lesions you describe do not sound like a typical STD.  Lesions of the sort that you describe are quite likely to be, just as you suggest, folliculitis, a minor shin infection caused by clogging of the pores that hairs grow out of (you may not be able to see the hairs).  The best way to manage them is with soap and water.  sometimes they get a bit begger and take on the appearance of typical pimples.

If they concern you, have your health care provider take a look at them.  I would not worry however about STD.  EWH
