Very Scared

On Feb. 18 of this year I had unprotected oral and vaginal sex with a woman of unknown status.
It was stupid and I was drunk (no excuse).

Since April 9th to now I have experienced white bumps on my hands, dyseria, yellow stains in underwear, fatigue, weight loss, pink eye and hands and forearms look really red.

On April 13th, I went to my family doctor and told him EVERYTHING. He also thought Reiter's sounded like a real possibility. He prescribed me one CIPRO 500mg  and 3 months of Doxy. He also did some blood-work and took urine.

HIV came back non-reactive. Gon/Chla and syphilis negative. I was negative for the HLA-B27 gene.
I didn't show any inflammation in my blood-work. My white blood count looked normal. However, he said I did show some bacteria in my urine. He said that this is expected without performing a cath.

I have been on three weeks of Doxy. My pinkeye comes and goes. I've got a lot of floaters. My hands still get really red and my forearms still blotchy. I still have discomfort in my penis. Sometimes the opening looks inflamed. To top it off the white bumps on my hands are re-appearing. Did I mention
I've lost 10 pounds. I'm tired a lot

Here are my questions:

1) I was tested for HIV 6 weeks, 11 weeks and 89 days from the original contact. All came back nonreactive. Could I be experiencing a late seroconversion?

2) Both my Doctor and Psychiatrist think some of these symptoms can be related to guilt and withdraws from drinking so heavily so long. But pinkeye? Urethritis? White bumps on my hand? Doesn't sound like guilt to me. What do you Think?

Thanks

worldtraveler2010:  You don't have HIV; see the many, many other threads on transmission risk and HIV test performance.

needsomehelp2:  Yes, it seems possible adenovirus-19 might have caused those symptoms.  I'm unaware of research that shows with clarity how long the symptoms may last.  I would think normally 2-3 weeks, but some cases may take longer.

I was wondering... could I have the Adenovirus I have seen you talk about? I felt really sick (flu-like)  about a week before the pink-eye started. The Dyseria and "feeling discharge" confirmed by stained underwear a week prior to feeling sick.
It seems like my left eye is getting blurry. How long does Adenovirus pinkeye usually last? I'm on my fourth week.

Thanks!

I realize that you have probably heard this question many times, but I need to ask it for peace of mind.  About a year ago, I was in Greece traveling and met a girl from Canada.  We had sex (anal and vaginal with a condom).  However, at some point, the condom broke.  I know, very stupid not to change condoms but I was drunk.  Then, 3 weeks later, I had protected sex with another woman (condom did not break).  I started to worry about the incident in Greece.  At exactly 12 weeks (84 days) to the day, I had an HIV test done by a German clinic.  It came back negative and I was happy.  I also had a test performed at 11 weeks by an American military clinic (also negative).  Since then, I have read numerous websites that state that the window period should be up to 6 months.  Was my test enough time and was it accurate?  Also, do you see there being much risk with the second woman because I had protected sex with her?  The final HIV test by the German clinic would have been about 8 weeks after this incident.

Thank you.

I can't comment on the rash, just confident it isn't HIV.  Certainly heavy alcohol intake and withdrawal can cause lots of systemic problems, but your doctors are in a much better position than I am to judge those possibilities in your case.

Thanks for the thanks--

I have been a heavy drinker for 10 years and stopped four weeks ago.
Do you think this could be causing some of these symptoms as well?

What could be causing the white bump rash on my hands?

You clearly don't have HIV; there is no such thing as "late seroconversion" with modern HIV tests.  Your symptoms don't sound like HIV or any STD.  In any case, I can't compete with the test results and your own doctors' opinions--except the symptoms you describe certainly sound more like they are psychogically derived rather than physical.  Trust your doctors.
