WIFE DIAGNOSED WITH HPV AND MYSELF WITH MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM

My girl went to the doctor for a paps smear. It came out adnormal and the doctor saw and told her that she has HPV. Since she only been with one person i think she got it from me I got so scared for her and me. Would i show any symptoms if i had HPV and would she show any symptoms as well? What happens now that we have HPV? Is this bad?

I went to the doctor because i have aruond 10 pimples in my groin area, around my pubic hair. I posted on here before and i was told it was foculittis. But she told me its molluscum contagiosum. Is this bad? Im so scared how did I get it and would i pass it on to my gurl if i had sex with her? Does this mean i have another disease like HIV. Im so afraid i really hope not. 2 of these pimples became big with white puss then they both went down. Now i just have 10 round pimples in my groin area for over a month now. I have been using anit bacterial soap to treat this.

I dont see any symptoms for her or me that has to do with HPV which are warts right>? Does someone ever see any symptoms. What can we do to cure this and treat it. Can we have sex again, or do we need to use a condom everytime?

Does this mean we have any other diseases since we now have HPV and mollusum contagiosum. PLEASE HELP.

Thank you doctor sooo much for your advice.

I cant work eat or sleep because everyday i worry about my wife mostly. I feel so guilty in what she has, the only thing im worrying about is my wife getting cancer, i think the doctor said she has vaginal warts and was diagnosed with HPV because of the adnormal pap smear.

They took a sample from inside of her which hurt and caused her cramps. a week later she has a slimy discharge and some cramps for a couple of days, why did this happen and is this normal?

Im reading all these forums and information and it says its cancer causing i really hope its not! Are all types of hpv that are internal cancerous? I understand the external  ones are not.

Your question indicates you still don't understand the basic issues about HPV.  Did you read the article on HPV and warts in the link at the top of the STD forum ("STD Quick Facts and Articles")?  If not, please do not keep asking questions here until you read it.  Most of the answers are in that article.

Very few women with HPV diagnosed by pap smear ctually get cervical cancer, even without treatment.  If your wife follows the recommendations of her health care provider, she will live her whole life without getting cancer and probably without needing surgery. (Even without treatment, very few infections go on to cause actual cancer.) Eating healthy is a good idea for its own reasons, but it won't make any difference in your wife's risk for cervical cancer. Any babies she has will not be infected.  You and she can have sex any time you want; there is no restrictions.  You can assume you already are infected with the same HPV strain she has.  Different HPV types cause warts than pap smear abnormalities.  It is wrong to say your wife has "warts (HPV)".  They aren't the same thing.

Since you undoubtedly already are infected with the same HPV strain your wife has, you can have sex with her anytime you want, as soon as your molluscum has cleared up.

i see that in men you really dont get symptoms and theres no way of finding out if a male has hpv unless he produces symtoms correct?

i am so afraid for myself and my wife, we want to have a baby and now the gyn found she has hpv and found warts inside of her. if she has warts inside of her will he show visible signs of warts on the outside of her vagina as well? I really would like to make love to my wife, can we do this> i hear didnt stories about this? and i hear diff stories about that our baby might get it or not, please tell me ur opinion, how can we know for sure that our baby will not get it?

Does this mean that if she was diagnosed with warts(HPV) that she will get cancer no matter what?, Can she live her whole life without getting cancer or surgery done? i hear diff stories about this as well. please help me out  Is it true if ur stress free eat healthy exercise that ur warts will not come back etc.

i dont know what to read and believe.

No, HPV infections and warts can't come out of nowhere; the body doesn't produce the infection, you have to catch it.

As to why you haven't noticed any symptoms, you'll know the answer when you read the article in the link I told you about in my first reply, and in many other threads on HPV in this forum.  Your assignment is to respond with the 2 main reasons you don't have symptoms and shouldn't expect to.  (OK, come up with at least 1 of the 2 reasons.  The Professor if feeling generous.)

Doctor we just got the results back and i tested negative for all those diseases you mentioned. and i got sooooo happy!! Does that mean we now have to deal with HPV and molluscum..The dermatogolist told me not to touch then or it will spread and that it will go away on its own, is this true, can I treat this with cream to go away quicker for MC?

As for my wife gyno told her she has HPV thats why her pap test was abnormal shes due back there in 3 weeks for a follow up so she can advise her on what to do and the test results should be back on her gyno tests...i read everything about HPV, is the only way u get HPV thru and STD or get ur body produce warts also on its own? I dont see any symptoms on me that has to do with HPV? why not..

please let me know thanks

I'd like to share an experience I had with MC. Last winter I had some bumps on my face that were diagnosed as Molluscum. The dermatologist I went to told me that I needed to get an HIV test. He told me that Molluscum on the face is predominately seen in HIV+ individuals. He provided the disclaimer that symptoms arent used to diagnose HIV, but he seemed pretty worried that I had it.

I tested multiple times and was found negative for HIV. I don't think I ever fully recovered from HIV fear and obsession as a result of this. You can note my persisting fear in a post below this from two days ago.

My MC most likely came from a used razor that a manager gave me to use at CHILI'S (extreme negligence on their part, I considered suing), or possibly from performing oral sex.

I post this here mostly for the above poster who mentioned HIV, but also for people who search for MC in the archives. I was absolutely terrified and could not find any source on the internet that mentioned that Molluscum on the face might not equal immune deficiency. Here is one.

HPV:  See the HPV/warts article in the link STD Quick Facts and Articles on the STD Forum home page, and also many, many other HPV threads on the forum; all the answers to your HPV questions are there.  The bottom line, though, is don't worry much about HPV.

Molluscum contagiosum:  When it occurs in the genital area in adults, it almost always is sexually transmitted.  Your partner needs to be examined for evidence of molluscum.  Antibacterial soaps won't make any difference; your molluscum lesions need to be treated to speed up the healing.  If your doctor didn't treat you or doesn't know how, ask for referral to a dermatologist; or visit your local health department STD clinic.

You and your partner need not stop having sex; you're already sharing HPV.  But condoms would be a good idea until your molluscum has been treated and all lesions are gone.  (However, if her health care providers sees molluscum lesions in her, then she already is infected and condoms won't make any difference.

With the new appearance of 2 STDs, you and your girlfriend should be checked out for others.  Most important, you should both be tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis; and perhaps others, depending on your risks.  You don't say when you or your girlfriend last had sex with anyone esle, which would help in that decision.  Your STD clinic will know what to do.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
