my fiance says he does not have herpes, but his test results show herpes simplex 1&2 IGG/M
HSV TYPE 1 <0.91 btwn normal and high
HSV TYPE 2 >5.00 high
HSV 1gM negative
what does this mean?
I haven't had sex with anyone but him for 2 years. Could I have been a carrier for that long without a breakout? Thanks.

Your fiance is infected with HSV-2. He may be asymptomatic, but he has genital herpes. You might or might not be infected; you should be tested to determine whether you are infected or not, and hence susceptible. You both should visit a health care provider knowledgeable about STD in general and genital herpes in particular.

Anything above 3.00 is positive for that type of herpes (whether it be 1 or 2). He may have had it for years, or it is possible that you may have brought it into the relationship. It's difficult to say. But you should definitely get tested.
