Please re-read my answer.  What you describe is compatible with folliculitis but I cannot make a diagnosis over the internet.  You need to see your own health care provider for this.  EWH

It is difficult to say what is going on without the opportunity to examine you and the lesions you describe.  Lesions of the sort you describe, as well as the history you give are very compatible with folliculitis.  Folliculitis occurs when the pores in your skin get plugged.  This allows that normal bacteria that are present on just about every-one's skin to grow and cause what is essentially a pimple.  Some of these just appear as red bumps which may or may not be  tender while others go on to actually form pimples.  In some instances, if you look closely you can see a hair coming out of, or nearby the bump- this too is typical of folliculitis).  Folliculitis can be best treated and/or prevented with washing using the gentle abrasion of a washcloth or a loofah sponge to help keep the poses open.

Having said this, let me repeat, this is my impression and to get a better answer you should see your health care provider so they can take a look.  If it is herpes or other STD you are worried about however, don't.  This really is not suggestive of any STD-type problem.  Hope this helps.  EWH
