help

I was recently diagnosed with herpes they did a culture but did not type it but they did take my blood I was positive for type one herpes. But because of the timing I decided to retest after my possible exposure which was 14 weeks later almost 15 my test was still negative I did igg blood testing I'm very unsure if I should continue to do blood work to figure out type or be content with my 14 week results. Please help me and the meds the doctor gave me (acyclovir) for my initial outbreak did not help what else can I take. I am having a re occurrence but my bumps do not turn in to lesions they itch and then go away in about 3 to 5 days and return. What should I be doing differently to stop the cycle.

I don't see how the culture would come back positive if it wasn't positive. Another odd thing is when I received oral sex it was feb 8 and my "outbreak" wasn't until April 11th or so and I never had bumps then just an open sore and the doctor then said herpes at the same time I was being treated for a yeast infection prior to the positive herpes culture they first said it was that and at the time of the positive herpes test the doctor also said I had bv so I'm am very concerned about all of this. I'm not sure what to think. My most recent doctor appointment told me I had a uti and the bacteria is Klebsiella so I don't know?

Oral sex almost never leads to HSV2 and it sounds like your poz HSV1 blood test was too soon to be from your new exposure. You may not have new genital herpes at all.

Too bad they didn't type the virus. Probably your symptoms now are not a recurrent herpes outbreak.  Herpes doesn't cause "bumps [that] do not turn in to lesions they itch and then go away in about 3 to 5 days and return".  And if your earlier symptoms were due to herpes, the acyclovir would have worked.

Don't take any more acyclovir it can delay blood test turning poz. Then have another blood test in several weeks.

You'll probably get more detailed replies if you re-post on the herpes community forum. Some of the regulars there are real herpes experts.
