HSV2 symptoms

Thanks for the forum.
Getting right to questions.
-Had vaginal intercourse on March 27th, condom was shredded. Head of penis began feeling infected about a week later. Self prescribed 7 days of amoxicillin (1500 mg per day) with no relief. Then 2 gram dose of Zithromax with no relief. One week after Zithromax (day 21) I had a discharge of what appeared to be ejaculate after urinating. I had not ejaculated in several weeks.
-Female contact was tested (day 28) and found to have warts on her cervix, bacterial vaginosis, and hsv2.
My primary symptom is difficulty urinating and head of penis feels sore most of time. I have not had a discharge since the one.
Was tested at 3 weeks (day before discharge) and 5 weeks for infection with none found. Took a biokit for hsv2 on day 36 with a negative result.
It is now day 48. I have the pain and feeling of infection pretty much constantly, as I've had for the past 6 weeks. The past week I've had two instances where red spots appear and it looks like blisters or rash may be forming, but within a day or two, everything looks normal.
Questions
1) How much faith can I put in a biokit at 5 weeks.
2) Could the discharge have been from the Zithromax?
3) The first spots or rash or whatever showed up at day 42, is this normal for herpes? I have hsv1.
4) Given my contacts diagnosis and my symptoms, what do you think?
Thanks.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
I don't quite know what to make of your symptoms, which don't sound like any STD.  What does head of penis 'feeling infected' mean?  Semen-like discharge after urinating sounds like possible prostatitis, but that's not usually due to infection and isn't sexually acquired.  Your partner's warts or BV wouldn't cause such symptoms.  Herpes symptoms don't come and go over a couple of days, and in general your symptoms don't sound at all like herpes.  Maybe just nonspecific inflammation (balanitis is the medical term) or a yeast infection, especially if you are uncircumcised and the rash is mostly under the foreskin.  Also, it is unclear what you mean by your partner's HSV-2 diagnosis.  Did she have overt herpes lesions?  A positive blood test?  Or just her provider's opinion?

To your questions:  1) Combining your symptoms (not at all like herpes) and the negative Biokit test, most likely you don't have HSV-2.  However, it takes up to 3 months for blood tests like Biokit to become positive, so your provider is in doubt, you might want to be retested in a couple of months.  2) Azithromycin (Zithromax) does not cause discharge.  3) No, your rash doesn't sound like herpes, either from the description or the timing.  4) See above.

Bottom line: Follow up with your personal provider if your symptoms persist.  Ask specifically about yeast and about nonspecific balanitis.  Be on the lookout for genital warts, which can take several weeks to a few months to show up.  In any case, none of this sounds serious in any way.

I hope this helps.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD

By "feeling infected" I mean the glans feels like it burns. It has been constant from week 1 and it seems to burn in different areas, but always burns. I'm pretty certain my urine was tested for yeast, but not the outside skin.
I asked about balanitis but it was dismissed, my thought was because I'm circumcised and while there is redness, it isn't grossly inflamed. My provider suggested that I see a dermatologist if that symptom persists, but I thought I should wait until I find out if it's HSV2.
My contact's hsv was diagnosed by a proper blood test (Herpeselect) and isn't in question, though she had no idea, nor has she ever had any lesions or any symptom she was aware of. We only had one contact and I know the odds, but I'm afraid I"ve beaten them. The fact that I had symptoms before she tested positive for HSV2 is very alarming.
I had a DRE and a PSA blood test. The blood test was good, the DRE, the clinician said my prostate felt "slightly inflamed". The ejaculate discharge seems to be the mystery symptom. It felt as though it came from my prostate area.
I was wondering if warts could cause burning as a prelude to showing up, but I find no indication of that symptom anywhere I've looked.
Thanks again, any followup comments are appreciated.
