incubation vs. exposure

I have a delema. I recently contracted gonorrhea I believe on a Sat. while having protected and unprotected sex with one person (condom meltdown)and then had unprotected sex with my normal partner SUNDAY all within 24 hrs. Is it possible that I could have incubated and been spreading GON. within that time frame? My normal partner has a lot of urinairy tract infections and has one now. She lives out of town and is on antibiotics but not the ones I hae read about being used for GON.
Also.. How long can a woman be asymtomatic and not be infectious? Im not really sure but I THINK I got it from the Sat Night because she is the ONLY other woman I have been with in a year since my normal partner and I have been together. If my normal partner has been asymptomatic for months... would I have shown symptoms right away or could it take longer...say when she became symptomatic?
It seems the more I read about this on the many site the more short answers just seem to confuse the issue. I have recieved treatment. I had terrible sweats, fever, leg pain, back pain and a very soar throat. After my treatment I whent to the ER thinking I had the flu. They did a test for strep. and it came back neg. NOW.. My normal girlfriend has strep. and is sick as a dog like me.  WHAT COULD BE GOING ON?
We are both on antibiotics but we have not had the "TALK" yet. Is there a chance I could NOT have inected her if I had only been exposed to it with in less than 24 hours?
Thank you in advance!

I had unprotected sex with a man. 12-13 hours later, he calls and says that he was starting to experience slight burning urination. Could it be a fast acting std, or maybe a reaction to my body fluids?

First and most important, you definitely could have infected your partner, and you probably did.  Gonorrhea is transmissible almost immediately after you catch it.  Your partner should be checked, including a test for chlamydia as well as gonorrhea. However, her gonorrhea test probably will be negative; most antibiotics used for strep infections also will cure gonorrhea (or at least interfere with testing), even if they aren't the usually recommended gonorrhea drugs.

Gonorrhea can be carried by women for a few months, but unlikely for as long as a year.  You probably are right about when you caught it.  That partner also needs to be checked and treated; be sure you contact her and tell her what is going on.

Your other symptoms sound like a cold, nothing related to gonorrhea.  That would fit with your regular partner's apparent strep infection.

No sex with your partner until a few days after both of you have completed treatment for gonorrhea.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
