Really suffering

Dear Sir,
Sorry for my bad English…I am a male 29 years old stay in Dubai...I had one intercourse in my life (about 5 months ago) and I contract a wart from that lady…the intercourse was protected vaginal and oral sex... I concerned about HSV2…I didn’t develop any symptoms like blister or open sore…no fever or symptoms like flu…
I contact that lady and got only a HSV2 test as i developed cold sore before in my life so I assumed that I am positive for HSV1…we tested together in the same clinic after 20 weeks of the intercourse..
My result was Negative (HSV2 IgG Ab     13.0  RU/mL   Negative) the reference is (negative less than 16..borderline 16 to 22...positive more than 22)
Her result was Positive (HSV2 IgG Ab     27.3  RU/mL   Positive) the reference is (negative less than 16..borderline 16 to 22...positive more than 22)
She shocked from that result and said to the doctor that she never had an outbreak also she never got a cold sore before in her life…
I asked the doctor about the reference why it is different and he told me that he use a different Kit in his clinic and it is an accurate test and I can trust the results…

I will marry next May…My concern is that I may contract HSV2 without showing any symptoms (like her) and I can transmit the virus to my bride..I would like to ask you about that tests …is it accurate?...why it had a different index?..can I trust the results?...should I test again for piece of mind?...i am afraid to test again but really need to relax…
About the wart I know that I may contract also a high risk strain …the time to my marriage will be about 1 year and four months from the intercourse… My bride is a Virgin.. Can I be sure that I can’t transmit her HPV as my body may clear the virus in that period OR should I postpone my marriage again to be sure?...(I am a smoker)

I'm sure the rash has nothing to do with your sexual encounter in Dubai; it's not an STD.  Your leg discomfort also does not suggest herpes or any other STD.  That symptom also is not related to your sexual exposure.

HPV almost always clears up within several months.  Once warts clear up, they rarely come back and later transmission to sex partners almost never occurs.

That will have to be all for this thread.  Good luck.

Welcome to the STD forum.  Unfortunately, I don't think I can help very much.

I am unfamiliar with the HSV test you describe, but from what you say, it seems you were not infected, since your results are negative.  Even if your one sex partner had HSV-2, it is unlikely you caught it. In couples in which one person has HSV-2 and the other does not, who have unprotected sex 2-3 times a week, only 1 in 20 partners gets infected each year.  That tells you how low the risk is for any particular encounter.  And your risk was even lower, since you had protected sex.  Given that low risk plus your negative test results, I think you can be certain you were not infected.  That you were unlucky enough to catch genital warts makes no difference in my assessment.

To your other questions:  It is unlikely you were so unlucky to catch both a low-risk (wart-causing) HPV infection and a high risk infection from a single sexual encounter.  In fact, I have to wonder whether your diagnosis of genital warts was accurate.  It would be quite unusual to be infected with warts following a single condom-protected sexual exposure.  But if the diagnosis is accurate, and if your genital warts have cleared up, and if you wait a few months after that to have sex with your new wife, you will not infect her.  Your marriage is almost a year away, and I see no reason to postpone it.

For any more information than that, you will have to rely on personal care by a skilled physician.  You should have no trouble finding a qualified provider in Dubai to evaluate your situation and give you any further advice you might need.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD
