Help with question

Dear Doc,

I'm probably just giving you an easy $15 dollars but will easily do it for some piece of mind. I visted with a woman I casually know and had a non-intercourse encouter. During the encounter I ejaculated into her underwear which was not on. Is there any chance of getting an STD from this. Maybe the contact with my penis was less than 10 seconds. Secondly, she left with the underweare a few hours later (did not notice if she put it on). Do you know if there is any pregnancy risk with this?

Thanks for you help.

The only non-intercourse pregnancy I've ever heard of (from a reliable source), is from a sex therapist I know. She had a client with vaginismus who became pregnant from her husband ejaculating on her vulva. She eventually delivered twins via c-section :-) But that was a *purposeful* attempt at pregnancy, and he ejaculated directly on the opening of her vagina.

Seriously, it just doesn't happen. I know there's all kinds of anecdotal **** all over the internet/friends/family, about how "my cousin's boyfriend's ex-girlfriend's sister got pregnant from (insert absurd situation here--I'm not going to contribute further to any nonsense rumors or anyone's OCD, lol)", but it just doesn't work that way. A lot of factors have to line up for pregnancy to occur, and conditions have to be pretty perfect. For sure no one ever got pregnant from putting on semen-soaked underwear hours later.

Thanks monkeyflower. Great information to know. It's wild how hard it is to find out accurate information on stuff like this. Just out of curiousity, have you ever heard of a real case of non-intercourse pregnancy, and if so, what were the circumstances?

No one ever got pregnant from semen-covered underwear (and I agree that it is HIGHLY unlikely she'd put freshly semen-soaked underwear on, lol). Even if she did, though, it still wouldn't be an issue--unless MAYBE if the semen was really very fresh, i.e. immediately after you ejaculated. And even then it seems to me that the possibility of pregnancy would be pretty remote.

So, for future reference: the only way a woman is going to get pregnant is if 1. she's ovulating, AND 2. you ejaculate directly on her vulva or in her vagina. Sperm are actually pretty fragile and conditions have to be pretty perfect for conception to occur.

Well - it may be an easy 15 dollars, but what if she just put on a few hours later, could that cause pregnancy. There is so much mis-information on the internet (sperm lives for 2 minutes, sperm lives for 4 hours), that the $15 dollars seems okay to settle my mind with all the conflicting information.

That is an easy $15 dollars. Can I have it instead?

Thanks Doc. You made me feel a lot better. I didn't know the story was that unique, but I guess so. Just out of curiosity, have you ever seen any proven cases of non-intercourse pregnancy. There are a lot of references on different websites to the possibility, but I have not yet seen a referenced case. It seems if this was even a remote occurance there would be more documentation of scientific cases, but they only things I find are "possibility" without any indication of it happening. I know this may not be your expertise, but am now more curious about this than anything else.

LOl.  Too funny. No you can't get an std like that. Don't worry! And of course she can't get pregnant.  The semen dies quickly and cannot live in her underwear.  What do u think she would do? Insert the underwear inside her vagina to try and have your love child?  Ohhhh some of you people are very entertaining.

Just to clarify doc - there was no oral or vaginal touching. Only her underwear. I did not take a close look to see if there was any discharge/menstural blood in the underwear.

I hear a lot of stories on this forum, but this is a first.  There was no risk to you, no matter what STD your friend might have had.

In response to the follow-up question below, there might be a small risk of pregnancy if she put the panties on while gloppy wet semen still was present, i.e. within a few minutes--which doesn't sound very likely, at least not to this old dude.  But no risk at all if enough time passed for the semen to dry.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD
