red bumps at the base

i have red bumps around the base of my penis. they showed up 4 days ago, the day after having unprotected vaginal sex, with a person i have been monogamous with for over a month. but they are going away slowly. some have white heads and some don't. each is separate from the others, so it doesn't look like a herpes cluster. it looks like ingrown hairs, but i have never gotten so many, and there were 2 very small bumps further up on the shaft where no hair grows. they were the first to go away. there are no sores and the bumps dont pop, they just fade away, but it seems slower than a normal pimple or ingrown hair. i am going to get tested, but until i do i am seeking advice.

I would skip testing right now and have a Dr do a physical exam to start because bumps can be so many things and they are often not STD related. So if you just test and are negative then you will not have an answer to what they are and will probably still be seeking it, so you will have to make another trip to the Dr.
