worried about risk

Hi,
I have read so many times that genital-hand-genital transmission of STDs does not occur, but I have the following experience that freaks me out.  I had mutual masturbation with a guy, we both came. His hand may have had precum on it when he touched the tip of my penis. Two days later my foreskin and tip of penis started hurting, a burning feeling.  That went away after a few days, but then my urethra and perineum area started burning and somewhat later my lower back/kidney area.  Peeing does not hurt at all, not burning sensation either.  But during much of the day, and esp. about 10-15 minutes after peeing my urethra burns.  Some days are better than others.

Could this be a rare case of STD transmission?  I did have my urine tested.  There are no white blood cells in my urine, and the urine is clear.

Thanks for your work and help.

It is doubtful that this is an STD.  You have no discharge, no signs of inflammation (white blood cells in your urine) and the burning does not occur during urination but afterward.  these sorts of symptoms would< i suspect be more compatible with some other sort of problem such as traumatic injury occurring during the masturbation itself. Further, the fact that it is better on some days than others is also atypical for STD.

sorry I can't be more helpful.  EWH

Hi, here is an update of my situation, I hope other readers will find this helpful.

I got tested for all STDs, and all tests came back negative, which means my symptoms were not due to an STD, except perhaps Syphilis, as the test was done three weeks after exposure which is too early to be reliable (correct?).  Now I am 5 weeks after this potential exposure and have no lesions/sores on my penis or hands, so can I assume I also did not contract Syphilis from this mutual masturbation?

I think this whole episode was at least in part due to my anxiety, and then reading too much online.  Doctor Hook's answer already by itself reduced some of symptoms.  Also, just getting tested reduced them more (even before I knew the results!), and they mostly disappeared when I got the results.

I did have some kind of inflamed forskin, perhaps because immediately after the mutual masturbation I washed myself real hard with handsoap (ouch).  So perhaps I had some mild form of balanitis, that I then over interpreted as STD and I went down that spiral of anxiety.

I learned a lot from this experience, others may also have similar experience.  This forum is a great help for worriers such as myself.  Still, when in doubt get tested!

Thanks!
