urine tests
how accurate are urine tests for std's??? i had a urine test done and PCR tests for Chlamydia trachomatis, Gonorrhoea, Mycoplasma genitalium, Ureaplasma genitalium, Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis and Herpes Simplex I/II.

all were negative. but i was told these tests are not reliable and swabs have to be done. is this true???

Urine tests aren't good for herpes, trich, and gardnerella (bacterial vaginosis).  I'm surprised they even did urine tests for those.

Trich and bv need to be a swab test, and herpes should be a swab test if there are symptoms, and in the absence of symptoms, you can get a type specific IgG blood test.

You should also get a blood test for syphilis.

If your doctor thinks this is good std testing, perhaps you need a new doctor.
