Thanks Dr what are the chances of HIV ??
You can get tested immediately in regards to swabs and urine tests that can detect bacteria from STI's in your urethra and on your skin and also bloods to give you a baseline result for blood borne viruses.
As many of these STI's have an incubation period the tests need to be repeated in three months. Same for testing if wanting to have sex with a particular partner. Get baseline testing done then retest three months later. Even if negative at the first test it's important to wait until after the second test as its possible to become positive in the meantime.
The chances of contracting something through protected sex is minimal but just as condoms aren't infallible contraception wise they can also fail for sexually transmitted infections. As has been mentioned, herpes can be passed on through skin to skin contact and if there are active lesions outside the area of the condom it provides no protection.
Hello,
Since you had protected intercourse all the three time, so chances of any STD are very less. However herpes and HPV should be ruled out which can transmit by close contact or even skin to skin contact. So I feel that you should get the blood tests to detect antibodies for herpes. Swab test may give false results. The two best tests are Herpes Select and Western Blot.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Hi there thanks for the response I have a girl friend and and looking for a long term relation so I'm planning of getting tested after 6 week which is after 8 weeks of contact is that enough or should I have one before that
Hi and welcome. Testing is usually not recommended unless you have symptoms like a discharge and or urethra discomfort. It would be advised if you have a regular partner.
