I went to the dermatologist yesterday to have a mole removed. It was a medium-brown colored mole that was right on my bra-line on the right side. I've had the mole as long as I can remember, but I can't remember if it had undergone any changes. All I know is that it has always been there for a long time. My derm. thought the edges looked a little shaggy and said it was pretty round but slightly larger than a pencil eraser, so it would be a good idea to remove it. He removed it through a punch biopsy and had it sent off for testing at a lab.
There isn't a history of melanoma in my family, I've never been a sun-worshipper and I have brown hair and brown eyes. I have read that people with fairer skin, light-colored hair/eyes and a tendency to burn easily are at greater risk.
Should I be worried? I am absolutely terrified that the mole that was removed is something bad.
