spot that is itchy and might be a mole

I have a small persistant sore on my back, thought it was a spot but don t normally suffer from them, then thought it could be a mole. It is quite itchy, dries up but then if I scratch it, it is quite painful and doesn t heal. I am 49 years old and have red hair and fair skin that has been exposed to world travel but not constant sunbathing as I dislike lying in the sun. Did have a brief affair with the sunbed however, years ago, am I now paying the price for my stupidity? Please help, Milenka

It's worth getting it looked at, just to be safe. You don't need to see a specialist, your general practitioner can also take a look and decide if you need to test it. Testing is painless, so why take the risk?

A spot that doesn't heal means a trip to the doctor sorry.

Good luck.
