Has anyone had this sleep problem?

Ive been having these for years now and my doc says its hypogognic hallucinations, ive seen everything from old men wearing black screaming in my face to old hag type witch hangibg off the celing above me screaming stuff at me i dont understand, to staying at a friends after a night out pysically trying to climb out of the window beiving i was trapped on a alien space ship, yes crazy as it sounds these are very scary, when they first happened some years ago, it started off small hearing the old noise, male voice, getting woke up to being poked on the forehead then later actually seeing red mist etc, to years on actually seeing steangers i dont know, like i said, its always fear based, they seem to want to scare me, yet i know its not real, but for those few secs or mins your brain believes its all real, ive hit my husband and attacked him so many times beliving him to be an imposter or something evil near me or ive seen the wall behind oyr bed come down on us and have bruised his arm thinking i was saving him from being hit with bricks that were never there, i know im nit crazy, im fairly intelligent, im a christian i dont mess with spirits etc, what i want to know is can doctors help stop me from attackibg my husband or acting out, they dont seem to want to give me sleeping pills? Does this sound normal or not for this sort of sleep disorder and what has helped those whi have this please let me know, thank you x
