Hi OGGY, how are you? I can understand how difficult it might be for you to tolerate the backache. Have you had any injury recently or any episode, which has triggered the backache? It is common to have sleep disturbance because of continuous pain, sometimes severe enough to restrict your mobility totally. The sharp pains in back and those radiate to leg may be due to nerve impingement. Have you got the MRI report? Have you consulted an orthopedic surgeon? You may take over the counter painkillers for pain relief after your meals and apply pain gel locally and do hot fomentation. Try to avoid trigger factors like lifting heavy objects, bending suddenly, walking on uneven surfaces or climbing stairs or so. It is better to get investigated by orthopedician. Take care and share your thoughts.
I have some of the same problems you are describing. I am having sleepless nights and what I can figure out is that I can't get comfortable due to pain. I can also not stop worrying about how this will affect my future. I am been prescribed Ambien, and I took it for about two weeks and am know back on a good sleep schedule again! The numbness is about any sign of nerve issues from the spinal area. If you can not lift up your legs due to pain when laying down, it can something as simple as a week lower back. The MRI should answer some questions! Another thought in your career alot of people are required to lift, that will totally drive back injuries nuts. Ask the doc to prescribe you a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, or steroidal anti-inflammatory. You would be surprised by how much pain is caused by inflammation.
