Too much sleep is ruining my life

I just cant seem to get enough sleep. There are days that i can litterally sleep all day, and as of lately i have been waking up sweating alot, also my girl friend said that my heart was racing one night, but i felt calm and didnt even know my heart was racing. I can go to sleep at any given time of the day if i choose to, i guse it is a retreat in a kind of way.... so my question is this:  Is my sleeping problem physical, or emotional or both?... Thankyou.

Hi, how are you keeping now? Can you give some more details about your daily routine and what do you do? How many hours do you sleep at night and in daytime? Are you suffering from any chronic illness or taking any medications regularly? Obstructive sleep apnea could be a reason for you to wake up frequently in order to regain your breath—sometimes resulting in number of awakenings per night, many times you may not even be aware of it causing you the sleep deprivation and leading to daytime sleep because of fatigue and feeling unrefreshed when you wake up subsequently. Daytime sleepiness can be annoying sometimes, as you may tend to nod off at your workplace or anywhere. Added to all of these the stress you are going through can be a trigger. Modafinil is can be tried. It is also used for the treatment of excessive daytime sleepiness caused by obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome and shift-work sleep disorder. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, smoking and heavy meals. A healthy sleeping habit, scheduling daytime naps (30-60 minutes in length), and normal regular exercise and meal schedule may also be of some help. It would be better to consult a sleep specialist for a complete check up before you chose to take any drug. Keep updating your thoughts in this section. Take care.
