Some people need to taper much more slowly. Another rule of thumb is to take a month for every year that you have been on the drug (or that you have been on antidepressants in general) for the total process. Some people even need to take longer than that. If at any point along the way, you get uncomfortable with the prospect of reducing the dosage further, you can stay where you are at for as long as you need to.

It actually depends upon which antidepressant you are taking.
usually the dose is reduced by 25 percent over a couple of weeks till you are comfortable on a minimum dose. Then if you are symptom free for a period of three weeks or so, you can stop the drug.
Some use a more aggressive approach, but it has to be decided according to what suits you.
