Too much sleep?

xx3
I wake up at 550 for school every day.  I come home and I'm taking a nap by 3pm usually... I'm not active at all. I go to bed anywhere from 10pm-12am. Usually around 1130pm.  No matter how much or little sleep I get, I'm always exhausted... What could this be? My pediatrician has never pointed out anything about my health, she always says I need to exercise and take vitamins.  But that's just because I'm a tad over-weight. I'm not that bad though at least I don't think.  I'm 135lbs, and 5'3 I'm a 17 year old girl, and my thighs are very thick...

Could my weight have anything to do with my exhaustion?

Is it just that I need exercise?

Is it my sleeping pattern?

Or something else... It's really taking a toll on me...

I found out that if you take long naps and get a lot of sleep that also can make your body tired.

As long as you keep a routine, waking up at dawn shouldn't be the cause of your tiredness. Naps are healthy as well, but you generally do not get REM sleep (the deepest levels) during naps, which is an important part of sleeping. This only leaves you with 5 or 6 hours at night to get adequate rest.
I know what it is like to get jipped out on your REM and I dealt with that for too long. You feel sluggish, unmotivated, tired and lazy.
What helped me and what I suggest for you is this:
Exercise. Your doc is right. And it's been long and ancient knowledge that even 30 minutes of moderate exercise (jogging, going for a brisk walk) releases endorphines and other "happy hormones" that keep your body functioning at its best. You will sleep more soundly and have more energy throughout the day. This effect is immediate.
Adopt a healthy diet. Simple carbs (ie. sugar, white breads/bagels, etc.) only  enhance the problem. If you're craving sugar, grab something fibrous (like fruit) or protein. It will steady your blood sugar levels and won't leave you crashing an hour afterwards.
And if you can, try hit the sack a little earlier, just to be sure you're getting enough rest. You may not want to go to bed once 10 pm rolls around, but your body will thankyou in the morning.
Try these three steps this week and I promise you will feel 100 times better.

All the best,

Brittany. :-)
