I awaken several times during the night with very tense shoulders that are pulled up close to the head. My neck is very sore and a headache prevails. I have no tension problems during the day only this issue during sleep. Not sure why this is happening and what to do to try and alleviate the problem. Thanks Chris
This could be due to a bad sleeping posture, a hard mattress or a large pillow. You should try some local application diclofenac gel and exercises till you feel good again. Also try to get a soft mattress and a thin pillow. Consult a physiotherapist and also ask your orthopedician if any tests need to be done.
