seeing things for a moment when i wake up.

Hi my names Sarah.
It all started for me when a was 7 or so and i woke up and saw my mum and sister laying on the top of my wardrobe. I’m 20 now and I’ve been seeing thing again for the last 2 months. It started with me having a dream about a spider on me in my car, then i wake up and start franticly bashing my bed, i snap out of it quickly. Then i saw a guy friend in the corner of my room, i sat up and asked him what her was doing here then he despaired into a shadow (a part of me knew he wasnt there, i just couldnt stop myself from talking) . Last night i woke to see a angry face coming at me fast and it grabbed my shoulders and i felt i shock on the tops of my arms, i was freaking out and shaking, i couldn’t get back to sleep after that, i felt like someone was in my room watching me, i get to hop into bed with my best friend/roommate. Please help me!

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament.  But the symptoms described by you can occur in sleep disorders called “Nightmare” or "Night terror" disorders. Here the person experiences symptoms of bad, frightening dreams and sometimes may act out these dreams. The sleep architecture may be disturbed, this may interfere with the sleep schedules. This is usually assessed by a set of questionnaires and the therapy is based on the severity of the disorder. I would advise you to discuss your symptoms with your primary care physician who may then refer you to a sleep specialist for further evaluation.

Hope this helped and Do Take Care.
