Put out the word love that on such and such a day that you will no longer be smokeing! Smokeing will no longer be allowed in your house! This goes for BF also! You are makeing the effort to stop the least they can do is support your rules and choices! I meet smokers at the door and tell them "Sorry can't Smoke in the house" I no longer smoke. I know its a ***** but, you really want to have to do this! As far as smokeing Mom and BF smokes unfortunely only you can control your urges. You will have to white knockle it as you watch them through the window smokeing! Tell BF to keep the smokes out of the house and to hide them if he must! Try to think of other ways of handle your stress....I personally shrug my shoulders and figure it (the trouble) can't kill me! Or I just let it slide and see what happens! LOL Hope this helps you and repeat after me "AM SORRY I NO LONGER SMOKE" Keep telling yourself that you would be amazed at the mind over matter! Wishing you the Best of Luck :)
lol yeah i would say the same to! My problem is i dont pay for cigarettes lol yeah kinda crazy but true it my dang bf even when i tell him to stop it he still shows up with them every freakin day and my mom just walks in my house smoking and i yell at her but end up smokeing her pack and then for christmas my moms friend buys me a carton! i know icould just throw them away but easier sed then done.... I think im just going to pik a day throw away every last thing that has to do with smoking have a rule where people can only smoke in my basement since i dont go down there ever idk ill have to figure it out
I do agree with Kathyjo and hope that you will push yoursef to do whatever you can to stop.
My parents are in their mid 50's and have been smoking since young teens...I want to try to help them to quit, but they always get defensive. If they will not quit I hope that they will at least smoke outside and not in the house with my 15 year old sister, who is embarrassed at school because her clothes reek of smoke. Not to mention it's str8 up unhealthy.
Anywho, just wanted to mention that if you can pay for cigarettes then you can put $ towards quit smoking items. And I am saying this is a nicest way possible and I do hope you will do what's best for you to be as healthy as possible!
Good luck!
More then the physical dependency (72 hour w/d) is the emotional addiction and that truly is the battle. You have associated smoking with stress relief, as have we all, and it's going to take some work to undo it.
Illness weakens our resolve but it doesn't make it impossible. For me, it was important to understand my need for smokes and to dispel all those positive things I associated smoking with. This forum was a good start and I also read the articles at whyquit.com They support a cold turkey quit so that should be helpful.
There are quite a few here that are in different stages of "quit." We are a supportive group so when you are ready, we are here : )
Good luck to you!
