Is lung cancer always deadly?

My sister is in the hospital recovering from surgery, she had a mass removed from her lung. I just want to know if all lung cancers are a death sentance

And yes she was a smoker, till yesterday anyway..........she is only 56, what really scares me is I smoke.......... I have tryed to quit in the past with no success. My other sister wants me to get a chest xray, because my sister had no symtoms, they found the mass by accident. Thats the real scarry part.

I am sorry to hear about your sister's operation and what she and your family are going through.
I think your physician is better equipped to answer your questions. I don't think anyone here can give you an answer to your question but I'm sure everyone sympathizes.

This forum supports those who are trying to or have quit. Should you decide to do it, we are here for you. When your sister is feeling better, she can join us too.

BTW, we have all tried to quit in the past, and there are many of us who are succeeding : ) Don't give up!
