Assh8, how's your quit progressing?? Do keep us posted. We are all here to help you through this. Yes, and as rightly suggested by your friend, exercise does give a helping hand in keeping yourself distracted, motivated, and de-stressed. It also helps to keep check on your weight (smoking usually gives rise to weight issues too!!). Also drink plenty of water and fruit-juices.... and tell us the difference these make in your life!!

Glad to get good support friends. Ashley, the site you mentioned was indeed helpful. This guy Eric seems to be helpful enough. Had read an article about him earlier at  http://www.lets-find-out.com/health/former-chain-smoker-and-today-renowned-european-stop-smoking-guru-eric-eraly-launches-an-online-stop-smoking-program/
Just to tell you my progress (not very successful though)....'am just trying on the slow cessation method at present. Get desperate and depressed at times. A good friend here also suggested that maintaining a good exercise schedule might prove motivating and help me ease out too.

Sometimes we tend to disregard what our doctor is telling us when we don't have obvious symptoms. High blood pressure is definitely not helped by smoking, that's a fact. Would it help you to quit if you were having trouble breathing? Unfortunately, that's when most of us quit. Don't wait until then. Just put them down an never smoke again. As hard as that sounds, when you do it you will see that it wasn't that hard.
As a smoker for 40 years I can honestly say that I never, ever believed I could quit. When the doctor told me COPD after being on an inhaler for a few years, well I knew I had to.
You can do it!  Good luck!
