DAY 14

I posted awhile back about my attempt to quit again.  I failed that time again.  I have tried so many times and always slip or cheat a time or 2 and end up smoking full time all over again.  I have been using Chantix on and off since this past January.  I really never made it more than a few days without having a cig or 2 and then I would just quit taking the Chantix and smoke full time and then start it again etc. on and on.

Well, this time I took it seriously.  I am now on day 14 without any cigs at all.  No cheating no making deals with myself.  This is the longest I have gone completely clean since I began smoking as a teenager.  I am very proud of myself.  My insurance covered the Chantix for awhile but now I had to pay $117 cash for my refill because I had used up my benefit for the drug already.  I think having to pay full price for the drug has helped me.  Also, staying of "why quit" sites has also helped me because for me reading the stuff all day long usually lead me back to smoking.  For me the site made me obsess about smoking it did not help motivate me to quit like it does for some people.  This time I am taking it one day at a time.  I am not saying things like I will never smoke again I am just not smoking right now.  So far this is working for me better than anything else ever has.  I really hope it continues to.  I decided to post today because saying all this to others helps me to remain accountable in a sense.

What is really cool is getting out of the shower with freshly washed hair and being able to smell the fragrance of my shampoo for the rest of the day.

You should be so very proud of yourself, especially when dealing with stress : ) It is a wonderful feeling to know that you can finally control the very thing that controlled you for so many years!
Keep it up and remember to ask for support when you need to.

Thank you for the support Day 15 today.  I have had a bit of stress and all the usual things happen that trigger me to smoke but I have not given in.  Not even close actually.  I am really amazing myself so far!!

Well Congratulations!
I agree that money sure can be an incentive and I'm so happy that it is working for you!
I'm also happy to hear that you are not making deals, giving excuses, all the things we tend to do when our cravings become to hard to handle. Be strong and if things get tough, you can count on us for support : )
