For me I had to use the patch AS DIRECTED,then I changed my routine in the morning,I quit drinking coffee, then I started to hit a womans gym. I used a different hand to answer the phone and I started to talk to the non smokers at various programs I go to! So now I have new friends as well!! All the best The most important was I live only for today ,just for today I dont project about next month, today I don't pick up a smoke.......

The best way to prepare for your quit is to try to understand why you smoke. Most relate their anxiety and stress as the main reason....the physical addiction is 72 hours = 3 days and then it's out of your system, then it's the emotional issue you need to deal with.
Observe when it is that you reach for one and make a note of it. You will see a pattern emerge and that's what you will have to work on. Change it up, challenge yourself...smoke before the meal and not after, only smoke outdoors, wait as long as you can after waking and don't light up after a certain time in the evening.....

Read all of the articles at whyquit.com and try to find yourself in them. I knew I had finally quit when I was able to see some of me in every one of those articles.

There is no magic cure and it will be one of the hardest things you will have to do, but once you do it, you will have a new found respect for yourself. It's the greatest accomplishment, taking back your life : )
Good luck and we are here for support.
