Bulging discs & arthritis in lower back

I had an MRI which showed several bulging discs & arthritis in my lower spine. I'm scheduled to have some kind of injection in my spine next Tuesday with my pain management doctor. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this without seeing a back doctor at all because I'm really worried but in so much pain that I have to try something to allow me to stand without excruciating pain after about 10 minutes. I would very much appreciate any advice & somewhat confused that I'm not seeing a back specialist before treatment? Thank you.

Hi I have problems very similar, but was referred to a back surgeon and he done the injections in hospital, speak to you doctor about it, if you cannot get appointment then get him to call you to put your mind at ease , when I went to pain management they referred me to the surgeon ,good luck .

Hi and welcome to the Spinal Cord C/D forum.

Sorry I never had any injections in my spine....so I can not speak to that...

If you are not sure if this is what you should do, or if you find it does not help try seeing a few other Drs to see if they have other options.

I would also suggest getting copies of ALL testing and reports that you have done....always request copies when you sign in for testing. This will help you get opinions faster from other Drs...you can call the facility that did your tests and request copies now...of all past tests....

Good luck with your injection and I pray it helps <3

Hi I have several disc warn away and find it very hard to do any thing, I understand where you coming from, I had injections in my neck as I have 4 discs gone in neck and 3 in bottom of spine and they can only do one area at a time , I was referred to a surgeon and then an appointment at a later date for injections at the hospital , it was not as bad as I thought is was going to be, but it does make you nervous as its your spine , I would say if you are unhappy to contact your doctor first to go through any concerns , good luck .
