Hello, I was on Clomid for 3 months with no luck and have now switched to injections and IUI. I was on it on days 3-7 because I usually O early and they wanted to be sure to get the follies mature and possibly more than one. I've heard that the 3-7 range is to get more follies and the 5-9 is if your follies aren't getting mature enough, it will help 1 to mature properly. I know what you mean about not getting any younger. Every month I stress a little more. Hopefully Clomid will work for you, it does for so many. I didn't experience very many side effects at first. I started on 50 then went to 100 the next month. After a couple of months, I got pretty moody and tired feeling. Nothing terrible though. Good luck to you and to all of you as always, SSBD!
My GYN had me on it days 5-9...I'm really not sure why some doctors do the 3-7 or 5-9. I think the most important thing is to have a doctor that is monitoring you closely. Are you having an IUI this month with the clomid?
5-9 worked for me. I heard it depends on the doctor. I think it helped me ovulate later which helped me get pregnant because I think I was ovulating to early. I remember one cycle I ovulated on day 9.
I took Femara, which is similar to Clomid from day 3-7. Not sure how they decide but I was also overlapping with injectibles. Good luck!!
i am supposed to take 3-7...why do some take it 5-9..???NERVOUS WRECK!!!
I've been on clomid probably for about 6 cycles. I'm at 150 mg /day on days 3-7. I've had side effects -- the most concerning are vision related. Usually towards day 7 I start seeing flashes of light...its hard to explain...but when I mentioned it to the doctor she said it was anything to worry about. I found that I need to take time to acclimate my eyes to a bright light, otherwise the flashes are worse. It takes a few days to go away...then I'm fine. Hot flashes are a bonus too!
Good luck -- it works for most...sprinkling baby dust your way....

It can work. I was on 50 mg days 5-9 and just knew it was a waste of time but it worked for me, first round. I'm almost 6 weeks know and I go to my doctor today for a follow up on how the clomid worked...he has no clue I'm pregnant. He will be surprised because he had little doubt I could get pregnant with an fsh level of 9.3.
