Anorexia?

I'm worried my friend has Anorexia. She is about 5"2' and 85-90 lbs. She's really skinny and always talks about nutrition and food and exercise. For lunch she always has a slice of wheat bread, two oranges, and maybe some cashews. She will only shop at Trader Joes since it's healthy and is trying to avoid any artificial food. Everytime you set something down in front of her, she's reading the lable and announcing what's in it. I have a realative who went through anorexia and it was incredibly scary. I'm really worried about her! Could this be an eating disorder? It sure seems like it and I don't know what to do!

You should talk to your friend about this. It doesn't necessarily sound like she's anorexic but may be going down that path. But than again she could just be weight conscious. You need to talk with her. Personally some signs are if she is obsessive about keeping her space clean or controlling calories she takes in and be even and what not.

hey, i know how u feel, im the shortest fatest girl in my school! i am 5'3 and weigh 122 lbs im 13 years old. all of the girls in my school are taller than me and weigh the same as your friend. only one other in the 8th grade is bigger than me. yes i know. its just how it is where i live. i had that same question about all of my friends. i thought i was overweight by alot because everyone in my school was so skinny! u are probably older than me and think i dont know what i am talking about, but i know how u feel. and my friends do the same thing at lunch, i actually approached one of my closest friends that had dropped 15 lbs that MONTH. i asked her what was going on. she said calmly. "i just want to be like everybody else" i told her everybody else is not like that in the world and that guys like a little meat on the bones lol. just discuss it with her and see what happens. i think its good that she is eating healthy, but just explain to her that she doesnt have to be REALLY skinny. i have delt with alot of anorexics over the past few years, she doesnt seem like she is anorexic, but just confused on what she wants. she is still eating though. tell her how you think she looks and that she is totally and completely fine! say "if you dont start eating more u will dissapear when you turn sideways!" lol. might make her feel better

                                                          anyway,
                                        peace out!

Have you tried talking to her about this? How close are you to her? Is there someway you can talk to her mom and express your concerns?
You're a good friend to be concerned about her. Try and keep an eye on her and see if she'll open up to you. Express your concern and get some information on anorexia that you can give her. Tell her girls die from this and you don't want anything to happen to her. You can get free pamphlets on this from your doctor's office.
Good luck. I wish you both well.
