Tampon Trouble

So this is a bit embarrassing but I think I may have an allergy to tampons. When ever I put one in my vagina gets sore and swollen. I have been using tampons since I was 12. And it seems to be just about two years ago that I have noticed all of this. I just need to know if there's a possibility that I could have an allergy to cotton tampons.

Thanks. That actually could be it. I have been using Ob tampons for awhile. So maybe the angle could just be wrong. And thanks again.

It's possible, though it may be that you are not inserting or using the tampon correctly. You may also want to try a different brand and see if those work better for you. Typically, if you have an allergy to something, you'll notice itching that goes along with it, which is a very common allergic reaction. When you are menstruating, the vaginal area will be more tender and sore, which is normal and using the tampon could make you more aware of that. Though, if tampons are not comfortable for you and you don't like them, then switch to using pads. You just have to do what works for you.
