I'm thinking about going o the pill, but I'm only 13. Almost 14.

I have the most awful cramps ever when I get my period!
So I really wanted to go on birth control so I wouldn't get my period every month.
But I'm scared too, like when I get older I wanna have an amazing family. I have a lot of siblings and when I'm older I want my own big family, but I'm scared if I go on the pill it could affect when I do go off it and try having kids later it won't work or things could go wrong, and if that's gonna affect me trying to have kids later than I don't wanna do it.
I just wanna know if it's a good idea for me.
And what could happen if something goes wrong when I'm on the pill or whatever.
Anything will help. Thank you.

Ibuprophen works for me. My cramps arnt bad at all, i actually get happy-er when I get my period. I have expenced horable cramps before, ibuprophen really helps. I'm not sure you should be on birth control that young. And just cuz your on the pill you shouldn't have sex either so don't use that as a exusse to have sex. Haha, I think your smart enugh to not do that.

I can absolutely relate with the painful cramps. At your age, I'd look into other pain control methods first before just opting for the pill. Make sure that your exercising enough, as that can help with cramps. Make sure you get enough potassium, too. It's usually found in bananas and some other foods. And when you take medication for pain, take it right away at the absolute first sign of getting cramps. It works better than waiting until they start to get pretty bad, and then it's past the point of it working well. If the pain is still bad after that, then you should make an appointment with your gyno to get a check up and talk about options for controlling your painful cramps. I don't know about the above poster, but I would advise waiting on sex. There are a lot of consequences that go along with it.

i've been on it since i was 15 and it does work!! it generally has no effect on your fertility later on etc, but it can make you put weight on as with all other hormonal contraception. it didnt have this effect on me, or any of the other side effects.
just please remember to use condoms if you have sex!
