vaginal issues

I dont know, I am 14 years old and for the past three weeks I've been having itching in my vagina. I get discharge that smells very badly and I don't know what to do. I am embarrassed to go to the doctor because I feel awkward and weird. I know I shouldn't but I do. I put this "yeast guard" cream on it and its helping a little but not totally. Please help me!

i agree that you shouldn't be embarrassed to go see a doctor regarding this problem. yes maybe its a yeast infection or a BV (bacterial vaginosis) or maybe it is just a change in pH level of your vagina which may be cause by a various of activities. a tampon maybe? or after sex? or a change in activity? when did this start happening? anyway yu may first want to try rePhresh vaginal gel. Its over the counter so you don't have to visit a doc for prescription. this help maintain the ph level down there and may prevent yeast infection and BV from happening. you use it every 3 days! hope it works for you!

It's a yeast infection.

Don't feel scared or ashamed EVERY single woman on the face of the earth gets one at some point in their lives.

If you don't want to go to the doctors go to the drug store and buy an off the shelf yeast infection medication ... something like monastat or canesten.  Usually it's a 1, 3, or 5 day treatment that consists of you having to instert a small pill into your vagina (as you would a tampon) it's the medication - and they give you the inserter thing and a cream to help with any itch around the outside of the vagina.  It's pretty easy to deal with but you have to deal with it.

Yeast infections won't just go away.  Essentially what happens is the "bad" bacteria has over run the "good" bacteria in the vagina hence the bad odour and discharge and itch.  And because its a bacterial imbalance it has to be treated by medication.  Don't worry its a truly delicate balance down there in terms of bacteria and this stuff sometimes just happens no matter how much you take care of yourself.

So go grab some meds - if you are wary of inserting them into your vagina you can go to the doctor and ask for oral medication - they won't have to check you if you go in and say it's a yeast infection and you want the oral medication.  (A pill you take by mouth).

Another point - avoid hot baths and hot showers until it's cleared up and feeling better - heat and moisture is a perfect breeding ground for yeast.  So stick to luke warm showers for a bit.
