Should you feel like your goiter is pushing inward on your trechea?  Is it normal to feel like someone is pressing on your neck trying to choke you?

From what I know today something pressing into, or continuing to press in your trachea, would be worth pursuing further.

When I would bend my head way back to drink from a bottle, I’d feel like something was pressing.  It wouldn’t even be as bad drinking from a glass.  I passed it off as just having my neck strained in certain way, no real problem.  Boy was I wrong.

The thing too is that this seemed to accelerate rather quickly.  So if it’s been a while since your last u/s maybe you can see if even that test can be redone.

Good luck.

i also had this feeling and after a few months i couldnt look down without it cutting off my breathing i couldnt read or put my head on a pillow anything that pushed my head forward cut off my breathing my dr. refered me to ENT specialist and within a month i had my thyroid removed so i think you should go back to you doctor and get him to refer you to someone as this not something you just have to put up with
good luck

Good evening Venora - how are you today?  I wish it would come out and I am still new to this.  It just doesn't feel right to me. The only way its ok today is if I lay down.

I am not sure what your history is, but if it comforts you, of course go get a second opinion.  Maybe even a third opinion.  If it means your peace of mind - well, thats very important for a mom to two.

But, regarding that horrible feeling, yes, its normal when your nodule is near / over your trachea.  I know it feel yucky, but if you can breathe and swallow (can drink water, eat, etc.) then THAT part of it, although bothersome, wont hurt you.

I swear I feel like going to the ER and demanding a CT, MRI, whatever.  A while ago I was getting tingle feelings in my chin.  My right lobe is enlarged more than the left but the US "showed no focal or suspicious lesions", like that is supposed to be comforting.  I am forced in the wait and see mode.

Yes, my nodule sat right on top of my trachea and it always felt as though someone had their thumb firmly pressed on my throat.  It was horrible.  But I was continually reminded that as long as I could swallow and wasnt having any issues breathing, that it was just something uncomfortable that I had to live with.

After surgery, it still feels somewhat that way - but from what I understand its scar tissue as the area is still healing inside.
