Left thyroid nodule

My aspiration and fine needle biopsy results were as followed. I have a 1.7cm left thyroid nodule that is well circumscribed in the left thyroid that tests state is benign. What does this mean?

Benign means it is not cancer. You can relax. Only if it is pressing on your throat and causing you swallowing or breathing problems would they suggest taking it out.

That it likely is a benign nodule and they did not find any suspicious cells in the sample.

Your nodule has smooth sides - a case for benign and it appears all is well.

They probably will not be antsy to remove it unless it grows, interferes with swallowing etc.

Keep an eye on it.
