My grand-daughter was born with no thyroids. She recently went to the Dr. and what her step-mother tells me is she is not growing. they have taken an x-ray of her hand and if it shows no growth, then she will be hooked up to an IV nest week and given something that should boost her growth hormone and if this does nothing, she will be given and pill. (Mydaughter, her mother, has died of colan cancer, so I get alot of after the fact, I was surprised to be called) My question is how safe is this procedure? I have been also told sometimes she is given a double dose of her thyroid medicine, so they do not have to break pill in half periodically. Or if she stays the night elswhere she is given a pill at home and that should last her two days. Could this practice, if done on a regular basis, have caused her growth problems.
