Acute Thyroiditis

Hi, I was told today that I have acute thyroiditis. They called in Atenolol 25 mg and Ibuprofen 800mg. Just wondering if anyone else has any advice on this issue. My TSH is 0.009, C reactive protein is 9.9, sed rate erythrocyte 44 mm/hr. I'm not sure what all of this means. Help

The additional labs have been ordered, but have not returned. I hope to receive those Monday. I am set up for a scan Thursday of next week. The doctor assumed I had mono until my labs returned yesterday. My symptoms are chills, fever, fatigue, sore throat (especially when I swallow), weight loss and sweats. As soon as I find out the other test results I will follow up here. Thanks for your reply.

Did they test any other thyroid related hormones, other than TSH, like Free T4 and Free T3?  Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies to determine if you have, either, Hashimoto's or Graves Disease?  Did you have a thyroid ultrasound done?

We'd be able to help you more if you'd post your thyroid related blood test results, along with their corresponding reference ranges, so can see what all they tested and what your results were.

Both CRP and ESR are measures of inflammation in the body.  Inflammation is to be expected with thyroiditis.

What symptoms do you have?
