Blood test questions

The nurse took my bloods from the front of my forearm, Muscle not vein. Is this normal? Also I was full of max strength painkillers and muscle relaxants for a long term back problem. Could that make any difference?? My doc was useless!!! Says my figure is 38 and it should be max of 21. Is this very bad? He seemed to think so but I see people on here diagnosed much higher. If it's the same figure that is!! Have sent for copy of my bloods so will post hem later and maybe someone can help explain them to me?

Hi!
It sounds like you had an arterial blood draw -blood taken from an artery rather than a vein for specific tests like blood gas levels (usually for respiratory or cardiac workup issues)....~MM

I don't think blood can be drawn from a muscle; it has to come from a vein.

Blood is typically drawn from the inside of the elbow; however, I have had it drawn from further down the inside of my arm, but never from a muscle.

Other than that, I don't understand your question.  Is it thyroid related?  What number are you talking about?

Is this a thyroid related question?
In all my time of having a bazillion and ten blood draws, and when the veins collapsed I have never had it taken from the front of the forearm. I have been in hospital over 16 times and had veins collapse and had it taken from my ankle.

What figure are you talking about? What was the test called?
