Body burning?

Does anyone else's body feel waves of fire throughout there body? Light headed, shivering with the cold, feels like electricity coursing through my body, sickly feeling, head aches and generally very odd chest sensations?? My calcium levels did drop spectacularly low and I thought I was having a stroke ended up in hospital for 3 weeks!! Even missed my 21st birthday!! I had hashimotos thyroiditis and they removed three of my parathyroid glands when i had the surgery 8 weeks ago. I'm on 100mcg of Levothyroxine and numerous calcium replacement. Recently have been put on betablockers and a form of anti depressant for the weirdness in my chest (thought it could be anxiety) but I feel it's worse now. I understand my body's had a battering and needs time to recover but is it the fact my body is adjusting to the chemicals or could it be trying to find out the right balance of calcium? I don't know how this works and the drs are not much help. Will I always have these weird feelings? I feel as if my life is not worth living now and regretting having the surgery

OK, thyroxine is the name of your thyroid medication.  (I take a form of levothyroxine called Levoxyl, .150).  Yes, your thyroid levels should be in the single digits--ideally under 3.  It sounds like you are seriously hypo.  Very good that your doctors increased the dose.  It sounds like they are taking the right course.  It will take weeks, perhaps months for everything to settle down.  But keep taking the calcium!

Yeah I live in Scotland... our range for calcium is between 2.2 and 2.6 but then there is the adjusted calcium level aswell and it has like a 10% margin... give or take... all very confusing!! Thyroxine is like Synthroid?? Proper name is levothyroxine if that helps

Hi--you must live outside the U.S.? Here the normal values for blood calcium range from 8.5 to 10.2 mg/dL.  So, it's difficult for me to understand your levels.  But it sounds like your calcium is not the problem... and I'm not familiar with thyroxine.  Good luck, and I hope someone else knows something about the thyroxine.

I had bloods taken yesterday so waiting on the dr calling today but I will post the results when I know!! Calcium is the best it's ever been though as they had me on 2.5 mcg of the one alpha and 3 1g calcium effervescents... It's since been lowered to 1.25 mcg!! Yeah when I was given it in hospital it was like my body had increased temp and it felt like I was wetting myself... All very strange but I feel worse now I have a constant weird feeling in my chest and I don't know what's causing it... Can't be the low calcium because I wasn't like this when it went down to 1.3?? Sorry for rambling

"like electricity coursing through my body..."  this the exact sensation I experienced after the IV calcium was starting to kick in again, administered in the hospital after a precipitous drop in calcium levels following total thyroidectomy and subsequent state of tetany (paralysis).  The electricity feeling seemed to signal that the calcium was beginning to take effect.  What are your calcium levels? Are your levels being monitored every day, or every few days?  This is serious and you need to stay on top of the calcium.  Please report back.
