More Advice

Hi. This is Karen.  I am writing again to see if I might get some more advice.  The results below are from being on 100 mcg of synthroid for 4 1/2 months.

TSH .99 ( .35-5.5)
Free T3 2.8 (2.3-4.2)
Free T4 1.29 (.61 - 1.76)

I am still having some hair loss and change of hair texture.  Some fatigue, etc.  I found out that my ferritin is 13.  I have been taking Chromagen Forte for 4 days.  I was wondering if these symptoms could be from the low ferritin and should I just wait awhile to see if I feel better taking the Chromagen, or do you think I need a dosage increase, either 88 synthroid and 5 mcg of Cytomel, or 112 mcg of Synthoid.

Thanks for consideration.  Desperate for help.

Low Ferritin can be symptomless and  eventually becomes the precursor to being anemic. Once anemic occurs, then symptoms might appear, which mimic hypothyroid

Hi,
Your ferritin is low and could contribute to your symptoms. Take ferrous sulphate 250mg.
However your FT3 is in the bottom third of your range while your FT4 is only just over half way. Both have scope to improve. You could do one of two things: either increase your Synthroid slightly or leave it where it is and consider adding 5mg Cytomel. Discuss with your Doctor. Good luck.
