High TSH and normal T3 and T4

Hi, I'm 24 yrs old female. 6 months back my TSH level was 0.05uIU/mL, Total T4 11.8 ug/dL, Total T3 was 109.6 ng/dL. My doctor put me on Thyroxine sodium 50 mcg. Recent test showed that my TSH went was way high 105 uIU/mL and T3, T4 were in normal range. This was suggested as hypothyroidism. But I'm loosing weight  and have diarrhea, fatigue, sleeplessness. Could you please let me know if 50 mcg Thyroxine was the right dosage for me and what should I be on now that I know my TSH level went that high? I sincerely appreciate  if you could also advice on other treatments or diet I should follow. Thank you

Was that TSH, from 6 months ago, *REALLY* 0.05?  That's way below the normal limit for TSH and it seems unlikely that a doctor would start you on thyroxine at that level.

Agree with Sally; we'll need the reference ranges for the T3 and T4, since those vary lab to lab, so must come from your own report.

Also agree that your doctor should be doing Free T3 and Free T4, not Total T3 and Total T4, which are considered obsolete and of little value.

Have you had antibody tests to confirm/rule out an autoimmune thyroid condition?

What is the reference range for the T3 and t4?

Ideally your doctor should test Ft3 and FT4 instead of t3 and T4.

Anyway, with a TSH of 105 likely you are still hypothyroid.  And your doc should be further increasing your thyroxine.

The symptoms of hypo and hyperthyroid can be identical, so symptoms alone do not tell what is going on.

What has your doctor done given your high TSH level?
