Hello,
As mentioned above her hypothyroid will play a major role in her being depressed and must be adequately treated.
Do not consider anything as major as divorce for now. This is a medical condition that can be treated. And if properly treated your wife should be able to get back to normal.
Medications for depression may or may not turn out necessary in long term. But please focus on treatment of thyroid as first and main priority.
Thanks for your advice...
Shall i suggest to avoide psychiatry treatment fully and focus only on thyroid medication ? . Bcz i realy scared about her mental depression. Her parents also not accepting thyroid and they are giving medication for mental depression.
Thyroid disease is not curable, but it can managed; there really should be no reason you would have to be divorced, as long as your wife gets adequate treatment for her thyroid condition.
She will need thyroid medication for the rest of her life.
Thanks alot...
She was under treatment of psychiatry for the past 50 days. Now likely to recover,Also giving thyroid thyroid medication. But i have a doubt that once we gave psychiatry treatment any further problems happening in future ?. Actualy i was married on 12th Jun 2011 and she was lived with me only for 2 months. After that she was living with her parents without me because her parents dosent knows about thyroid desease and they r blamiing me&my family. So if her mental depression cant recover as 100% then how can i live with them,so if it will not curable i can decide to divoce.
Thanks alot for your reply.
I want to know that ,
1) Actually which treatment we take at this point of time ? ether psychiatry or Thyroid?
2) Will it curable or not ?
3) Any problem happen in future if she take psychiatry treatment?
4) Once we take psychiatry treatment, will it again come in future?
Both depression and anxiety are a symptom of BOTH hyper and Hypo.
Your wife seems pretty severely Hypo. Get the TSH, FT3 and FT4 labs done ASAP.
Thyroid can be balanced out with proper dosage of medication tailored to the person. What response it has on psychiatry symptoms depends upon if the depression issues are solely related to being severely Hypo or if there is some other issue at play.
If the FT3 is severely low again. In order to get some relief sooner rather than later, I'd talk to her Dr. about getting on a T3 medication right away. maybe long term the T3 med could be reduced or eliminated. But a T4 only medication takes 4 to 6 weeks to stabilize. And you may not want to wait for that long to obtain some relief. T3 meds also have to be started at low doses and worked up. But since FT3 is the ONLY thing your body's cells use, getting some T3 into the blood will have a quick response.
A typical starter dose of T3 is 5 mcg to no more than about 10 mcg. Some people even need to start at 2.5 mcg.
T3 is fast acting and should have response within a few days versus weeks.
Just my 2 cents
it is critical that her thyroid is adequately treated first. Psychiatric treatment (antidepressants) should not be considered unless the thyroid is already normalised with treatment. However, she may need supportive environment while her thyroid is normalised.
Thyroid is not curable, but it is manageable with proper dosing of medications.
She will need long term thyroid medication and regular monitoring of h er thyroid levels (usually every 6 - 12 months, if she is stable), but every 6 - 8 weeks if she is not stable - to keep her meds properly adjusted and to stay well.
