Informational

I have two questions can you please explain in laymen terms.
1.  This is what was in the nuclear Medicene doctors finding report, "There is photopenic defect involving the metallic right toe knee arthroplasty hardware".  I took this as meaning there is an issue with the hardware on my knee replacement which has cause scare tissue.  What else are they trying to say?  In the impressions from the nuclear med physician it states that "Status post total right knee arthroplasty hardware replacement, no abnormal foci of radiotracer activity nor overlying hyperemia to suggest associated acute process, such as loosening or infection."

2. This is what was in the nuclear Medicene doctors finding report, "There is oblique focus of increased activity involving the body of the sternum, non specific finding by itself; if clinically suspicious for fracture, CT scan or MRI would help further evaluate."  I took this as meaning there was a possible frature of the sternum.  My understanding is they can do nothing for that.  True or false?  In the impressions from the nuclear med physician it states that, "That there is an obliquely[oriented sternum lesion of un-known clinical significance.  If clinically suspicious for fracture, CT scan or MRI.}

I agree with Barb...seems you need an Orthopedic Forum to answer these questions.

This is the thyroid forum and I don't see anything related to thyroid issues in your post.  I'm not sure our members will be real familiar with knee replacements or fractured sternum.  You could try asking your question on one of the other forums.  Maybe someone on here will be able to point you in the right direction.

Good luck...
